How Meute works

A peer-to-peer marketplace where money never passes through the platform. Here is what stands in its place.

The principle

Your funds never pass through us

Buyer and seller settle directly, by the means they chose. Meute holds nobody's money — so Meute can neither freeze it, nor lose it, nor vanish with it.

That is the deep difference with marketplaces that hold your payment in escrow. Escrow protects, but it makes the platform the weak link: its bankruptcy, its account freeze or its arbitrary decision become your problem.

The protection

Le Gage — the optional deposit that replaces escrow

A seller can put down a deposit: le Gage. It is what refunds a wronged buyer, and every offer shows how far it covers. Selling without a Gage is allowed — the offer then carries the red “Sans Gage” mark, and you know no deposit protects you on that one.

The money locked up is the seller's, not yours. And since it is deposited before the sale, it is there when it is needed. Meute's fees are taken from it; a seller without a Gage can let them build up to a cap before having to deposit one.

The coverage

Le Sceau — coverage in figures, not a promise

The amount a seller's Gage actually covers is shown on their page, to the cent. You know how far you are covered before you buy. And past certain amounts, Meute adds its own share on top:

Le Gage on deposit Added by Meute Announced coverage
40.00 EUR + 30.00 EUR 70.00 EUR
85.00 EUR + 100.00 EUR 185.00 EUR
175.00 EUR + 200.00 EUR 375.00 EUR
400.00 EUR + 500.00 EUR 900.00 EUR

The total reserve backing Le Sceau is published and recomputed on every visit. See the proof of reserve

The price

Fees

Paid by the buyer
2% — minimum 0.50 EUR
Seller commission
0%

Fees are stated before you confirm, and taken from the seller's Gage — never added along the way. The exact amount is quoted on the offer page, for the quantity you ask for.

Time to check

The inspection window depends on the payment method

Some payments can be reversed long afterwards: a card can be disputed months later, an instant transfer cannot be clawed back at all. The window during which a trade stays disputable therefore follows that risk, instead of being the same everywhere.

Window Applies to
3 hours Jeux
1 day Cryptomonnaies
3 days Diablo 4 · FC · Krosmoz · Monde des Douze PC · Monde des Douze Retro · Monde des Douze Touch
4 days Banques · Portefeuilles en ligne
7 days Cartes

Step by step

How a trade unfolds

  1. 1 1. You pick an offer. The price, the fees and the seller's coverage are shown before you confirm.
  2. 2 2. The message thread opens. Everything is said there: it is the only conversation that counts as evidence in a dispute. A discussion anywhere else — SMS, Discord, email — cannot be taken into account.
  3. 3 3. You settle directly. Who pays first depends on the payment method: the more easily reversible side pays first.
  4. 4 4. The seller delivers. Then you have 24 h to 7 days to check, depending on the payment method — the table below has the details.
  5. 5 5. If something is wrong, you open a dispute. It is decided on the thread's evidence, the decision is reasoned, and the refund comes out of the seller's Gage — without waiting for their agreement.

Buyers are looking

And if nobody is selling what you want?

Post a request: you say what you want and what you will pay with, sellers quote you a price, and you take the one you want — or none. It is the order book in reverse, and it is what makes the site useful before it is even busy.

The pack

Ranks

A seller climbs the ranks as they sell and keep their word. The rank shows on their page and gates access to certain categories.

Stay sharp

What should put you on guard

  • Nobody from the Meute team will ever message you privately to ask for a payment, a password or a “verification transfer”. If it happens, it is an impostor.
  • A seller who suggests “doing this off-site to avoid the fees” is mostly suggesting you do without the Gage. If they vanish, there is nothing left to refund you.
  • A doubt, an abuse, illegal content? Report it — you receive a timestamped acknowledgement, then a reasoned decision, and you can appeal it.

An account is enough to buy — and to sell. Le Gage, optional, gives your buyers confidence.
